Dr. Dahlgren, a native of Milwaukee, WI, began practicing with Eye Physicians & Surgeons in 2009. While he practices comprehensive ophthalmology for patients of all ages, Dr. Dahlgren specializes in cornea transplant surgery, no needle/no stitch cataract surgery, LASIK and laser eye surgery, and other ocular surface procedures. Clinically he also has interests in treating cornea infections and other ocular inflammatory conditions.
Dr. Dahlgren graduated summa cum laude from Valparaiso University in Indiana where he double majored in chemistry and biology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2001 and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Dahlgren completed his one-year internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee then moved to Houston, Texas for his three-year residency in ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine. Here he was selected as Chief Resident. Upon completion, Dr. Dahlgren and his family then moved back north to Minnesota where he performed a one-year fellowship in cornea, LASIK, and anterior segment surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Afterwards he was in private practice in Milwaukee, WI for two years before joining Eye Physicians and Surgeons in Elkhorn and Burlington, WI.
Dr. Dahlgren’s research studies and publications have included VISX excimer custom LASIK enhancement treatments, corneal infections, and childhood amblyopia. He has also co-authored two chapters on cornea related topics in two highly regarded ophthalmic textbooks. In practice, Dr. Dahlgren continues to study his own clinical and surgical outcomes to provide the best quality of care for his patients.
Dr. Dahlgren is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is on staff at Lakeland Medical Center and Burlington Memorial Hospital. His service memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Wisconsin Medical Society, and the Milwaukee Ophthalmologic Society.
Away from work, Dr. Dahlgren enjoys spending time with his wife Beth and his four children Jake, Joelle, Luke, and Julia. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, hunting, and fishing.
